Long Island Real Estate Auction Achieves Over-List Result

Once listed at $2.9M, no reserve auction achieves $3,052,500

DALLAS, Texas (August 18, 2022) -- Drawing crowds of bidders, the auction for an historic Long Island manor reached a price higher than its previous listing price. Heritage Auctions hosted the sale that topped $3,052,500 for the Woodsburgh estate, beating the previous list price, and exceeding previous offers.

"This is a great example the auction model and the power of marketing," says Nate Schar, Director of Luxury Real Estate for Heritage Auctions. "The home had previously been listed for years, we were able to bring new and excited buyers to Woodsburgh, ultimately registering 23 bidders to compete for this great home."

The 1913 manor in Woodsburgh had over 8000sqft, 8 bedrooms and 9 baths. The elegant estate was owned by the same family for 40+ years. The new owners have a large family and hope to live in the home for decades.

"Woodsburgh is a close-knit community, so, needless to say this auction gathered a lot of attention." Over the weekend, Heritage showed the home to well over 100 people, with some traveling hours to view the home, everyone who toured the home was very impressed.

On auction day, nearly two dozen bidders arrived ready to buy, each sending $50k in escrow. Once the auction started, the bidding was brisk and only lasted about 10 minutes. The auction was held inside the house and simulcast on ha.com for the remote and phone bidders.
