    The Trini Lopez Estate -- A Palm Springs Modernist Classic

    Singer and actor Trini Lopez's practically untouched, 1961-vintage Palm Springs, California, home sold for $2,090,000, Tuesday, April 13, by Heritage Auctions. The sale price is the highest for comparable properties in more than 10 years.

    "The family is thrilled with the home's $2+ million sale price," said Nate Schar, Director of Luxury Real Estate for Heritage Auctions. "It is a classic among Palm Springs' Mid-Century homes because it remained virtually untouched since its construction in 1961, which is difficult to say about most other homes of its kind. Trini bought the house in 1968 and lived there for the rest of his life, nearly 60 years, and lovingly preserved the home's original mid-century modern features."

    Heritage offered the Lopez home as part of the auctioneer's multi-day series of sales featuring many of the late recording artist's possessions, May 1-2 on The Trini Lopez Collection includes more than 90 lots, among them five of his coveted electric guitars, including Lopez's personally owned and played Deluxe Model Gibson Electric Guitar and a rare Gibson TL-335 Reissue Prototype Electric Guitar.     The home, designed by Dan Palmer and William Krisel, was built by the famed mid-century architectural firm Alexander Construction. It is located in the Vista Las Palmas neighborhood of Palm Springs, an area once populated by many entertainers and notables.
